This ladies’ ring is made of 14 karat white gold, size 8.5, and weighs 3.3 dwts.
The main diamond is the center stone which measures 6.2 mm in diameter for a calculated weight of 1.00 carat. The diamond is a deep, dark blue color and it’s assumed it was “treated” to give it the bluish tint. The purity is I2.
The mounting has a combined weight of 1/5 carats. There are 24 diamonds around the center diamond in a halo design and then 14 diamonds down the shank (seven per side). Their purity is SI1 with F to G color.
There is an impurity in the center blue diamond, but it is difficult to see. It is easier to feel with a fingernail. The color is very different. People often ask if it’s a sapphire and when I tell them no they say they weren’t sure because there’s almost a teal hue to it. It’s very close to the color of the ocean. Just lovely.
This ring was featured in an article for Glamour online in November 2013. It’s quite unique!
