This ring is from my mom's collection. I don't recall ever seeing her wear it, and I am sure it is 30+ years old. It is very heavy (9.6 grams) stamped 14k yellow gold, and the setting is very unique. It looks like branches of coral holding the stone. The stone is approximately 10 mm, but I am unable to get an exact measurement due to the way the stone is set. It does rattle a little in the setting, but I don't think it can come out because of the way the prongs overlap on the stone. It has a fascinating color shift and I had a really hard time capturing the different colors with the camera. Depending on the light, I see violet, royal purple, teal, blue, grayish blue and occasional flashes of cranberry. There is a chip and a scratch on the edge of the table of the stone which you can see without a loupe if you are looking for them, but they are not distracting from the appearance. The stone has great sparkle as well. The ring is around a size 7 with a blob of gold on the inside, I guess to keep the ring from spinning when you wear it.
